Michael Abel's ambitions, to become an artist, started at the age of six after winning an award for a finger painting, at an exhibition in New York City.  This led him down the path to become the Fine Artist, Illustrator, Graphic Artist, and Publisher he is today.

Working as a graphic artist, after finishing art school, he created brochures and ads for the world renowned artist Edna Hibel.  Michael uses many mediums and techniques, but prefers the airbrush and acrylics for his fine art paintings and illustrations.

Michael started a design company in 1990 creating illustrations, graphic designs, screen printed garment designs, murals, and fine art for clients worldwide. Clientele includes Motorola, Bennigans, Palm Beach Cruise Lines, Omni Hotel, Marriott, Holiday Inn, Casablanca Restaurant, Hot Rod Cafe, Casa Alvarez Restaurants, Planet Sub, Anheuser Busch,  Palm Beach Kennel Club,  Waffle House, Conoco, One Planet, Zambezi Safari Company, Mountain Sports, Boulder Theater, Hotel Boulderado, and many more.

Michael often does his own photography for his references, giving him greater control of the images he uses to create his own artistic masterpieces.  His work shows in galleries and art festivals, such as Palm Beach Gardens Festival of the Arts, winning an Honorable Mention Award.  Also featured at Lighthouse Galleries Floral Paintings Art Show, Sunfest, Kinetics festival, and many more local art shows.

Marie MacLean has been drawing and painting all her life.  Her work reflects the love she has for animals, with a special love of dogs.  Marie has a talent for creating portraits of both people and animals from photographs and does many commissioned pieces.  She is able to capture the essence of the photograph in her work.  It is the challenge of this type of work, which excites Marie.  Come join us any Sunday for a cool and mellow social session featuring Marie's work.  The Painted Conch is also proud to carry Marie's own M&M Bubbles handmade soaps made with the artist's eye.  View Marie's work at www.fanartreview.com/basilbaby
